Module no.3 "The development and implementation of a tool for estimating the risk of return of persons serving a custodial sentence to crime" implies the development of a tool and its adaptation to the Polish legal system and the training of staff to prepare for the use of the tool. The purpose of implementing the tool is to support the representatives of the Judiciary, the Probation Service, Prison Service and law enforcement services to assess the risk of the return to crime of persons who take custody after leaving penitentiary units, thus improving decision-making processes for accepting a person deprived of liberty to an appropriate corrective program ensuring that the likelihood of recidivism is minimized. In this situation, the problem of the lack of comprehensive knowledge of the inmates in the correction process will be addressed and solved. In addition, educational measures aimed at judicial institutions’ staff are envisaged, which will be aimed at promoting the use of alternative non-isolation penalties.
Activities scheduled in Module 3:
- development and implementation of a tool to analyse the risk of return to crime of people who are deprived of liberty
- organization of training courses for the representatives of institutions in the so-called justice chain to promote the use of non-isolation penalties
