Module number 2 “The modernization of the Prison Service staff training system” implies a reduction in the rate of return of prisoners to crime, understood as the phenomenon of recidivism in its broad meaning (repeated imprisonment in penitentiary meaning) by improving the competences of the Prison Service staff as part of a modernized training and development system supporting the rehabilitation and reintegration of prisoners. The reorganization of the teaching system will be implemented on the basis of the potential of the higher School of Criminology and Penitentiary Science, now known as the Academy of Justice. Direct actions to achieve the results will be implemented through specialised training based on job profiles of prison staff and identified competency gaps, on the understanding that staff of newly established penitentiary pilot complexes are trained first. The project-initiated process of enhancing Prison Service staff’ competences will allow for a broader view of the phenomenon associated with the pathology of crime, including the effects of isolation and the "prisonisation" of sentenced persons.

Activities scheduled in Module 2

  • development and implementation of a modern Prison Service staff’ training system based on eliminating competency gaps
  • Support of the didactic base of the Academy of Justice by setting up and retrofitting the digital library
